Google is planning to make Google Play gift cards publically available in Australia beginning August 26, reports Ausdroid. As per this Australian Android blog, the gift cards will be sold via a national supermarket chain but the name of this chain is a mystery at this moment.
This might be the public release of Google Play gift cards down under, but telecom operator Telstra has been bundling $50 gift cards with Android purchases on its network since July 2.
Google has also updated the gift cards & promotional codes help section to reflect the availability on gift cards in Australia. As per the section, the gift cards will be available in $20, $30, $50 denominations.
“Google Play gift cards will soon be available in Australia. We’ll have more information to share when they hit shelves,” Google told Ausdroid.
With the release in Australia, Google Play gift cards will be available in a total of five countries including Germany, France, UK and US.
