Intel announces Android-Based Education Tablet reference designs

Intel has announced two Android education-focused tablet reference designs today. Powered by Atom processors, these references designs are available in 10-inch as well as 7-inch screen sizes and are equipped with Intel Education Software.

The company states in a press release that new reference designs have designed specifically for educational use. These feature student-friendly design, stylus support and more to support students as well as teachers.

“Intel remains committed to helping teachers and students achieve better results through the development of complete solutions that span the hardware, software and digital content required for a 21st century learning experience,” said John Galvin, vice president of Intel’s Sales and Marketing Group and general manager of Intel Education.

According to Intel, the company’s Education Software is a comprehensive suite of applications including an e-Reader, science exploration and data analysis application and painting tools. It also comes with management software that provides teachers and administrators with tools to protect students and manage technology.

In terms of the raw specifications, the Intel Education tablet with a 10-inch screen features dual-core Intel Atom processor Z2460 and Android 4.0. It offers 6.5 hours of battery life, and weighs 1.5 lbs. The seven-inch version of the tablet comes with single-core Intel Atom processor Z2420, Android 4.1. It offers nearly 8 hours of battery life and weighs .78 lbs.
