Goophone 5C clone surfaces before the official Apple iPhone 5C launch

While talking about Chinese knock offs of high-end premium smartphones, one cannot miss the Goophone brand. Goophone is quite popular for its cheaper iPhone rip-offs. Now even before the much anticipated iPhone 5C hits the market, its clone Goophone 5C is all set to launch in China, reports Gizchina.

Last year during the launch of the iPhone 5, several Chinese knockoffs were already available in the market. In fact, earlier in March, we’d also seen the Goophone 5S. The Goophone 5C is said to feature almost a similar design and specs as Apple’s iPhone 5C, except it will run on Android instead of iOS 7. Obviously, we wouldn't see Apple's pristine finish or goodies that come with Apple's OS, after all it is just a cheaper knock off.

The Goophone 5C is likely to be made available in Chinese markets next month for $99, which is approximately Rs 6,500. Its spec sheet reveals a 4-inch display, 1.2GHz MTK MT6572 processor with 1GB RAM, 4GB storage and an 8MP camera. Looks like the device is also being sold as the Goophone i5C.

It is through the budget iPhone 5C that Apple plans to gain foothold in emerging markets like China and India, and give some cut-throat competition to its arch rival Google. The mid-range and budget markets in developing nations are dominated by Android devices.
