Along with Galaxy Note 3 smartphone, Samsung India also unveiled its Galaxy Gear smartwatch in country today. The smartwatch has been priced at INR 22,990 and will go on sale beginning September 25 in India.
Samsung Galaxy Gear features a 1.63-inch Super AMOLED display and is powered by 800MHz processor. It works in conjunction with your smartphone (only Note 3 right now) and notifies you of incoming calls, texts, emails and alerts. You can also see a preview of those messages.
As the Galaxy Gear also packs a microphone and speaker, you can even make calls with it. It uses the cellular network of your phone to make the calls, as it itself does not come with any cellular support.
Samsung has pre-loaded S Voice on the Gear, which will help you in hands-free operations. You can draft messages, create new calendar entries, set alarms, and check the weather on the smartwatch using S Voice. In addition, Samsung Galaxy Gear packs 1.9MP camera with BSI sensor, allowing you to click pictures or record videos without the need to take out your smartphone.
Several app developers are building applications meant for Galaxy Gear, which will be available within days of Gear going on sale. These applications can be installed on the device using Gear Manager app on your Note 3.
Here are some of these applications:
Atooma is a contextually aware horizontal intelligence platform that makes your Galaxy Gear smarter.
