Samsung unveils Galaxy Gear smartwatch

Samsung unveiled its much-awaited Galaxy Gear smartwatch on Wednesday. The smartwatch will be available beginning September 25 in 140 countries, like the Galaxy Note 3 smartphone. According to Samsung, the Galaxy Gear will be sold for $299 in the United States, which means, the India price is going to be around INR 20,000.

Featuring a 1.63-inch Super AMOLED display, the Galaxy Gear looks quite decent and the front of the watch is made of metal and sapphire glass. Among other specs, it is powered by an 800MHz processor and comes with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. You can read full specifications later in the post.

Coming to the features of Samsung Galaxy Gear, the watch connects to the Samsung Android devices using Bluetooth and notifies users of incoming messages, such as calls, texts, emails and alerts, delivers a preview of those messages.

Galaxy Gear comes with a built-in speaker, which can be used to make hands-free calls directly from the watch. Samsung has also included a 1.9MP camera on Gear for your imaging needs  and it record videos of upto 720p HD resolution.

This isn’t all, the smartwatch comes preloaded with 10 different clock options and there will be about 70 apps available at launch including Evernote, eBay, Path, Pocket and more. A few of these have been listed in the specs sheet below.
