Xiaomi announces MiPhone 3, priced starting $327

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi, which recently poached Google’s Hugo Barra, has announced its new flagship smartphone MiPhone 3rd Generation today at a press event in Beijing.

The new smartphone features a 5-inch full HD IPS display with OGS and is powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra 4 quad-core processor (China Mobile variant) or 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 (China Unicom version). MiPhone 3 also comes with 13MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, NFC and 2GB of RAM. In addition, the phone includes 3050mAh battery, Android 4.2.1 and MIUI v5. Mi3 weighs 145g and is just 8.1mm thick.

According to Xiaomi, MiPhone 3 will be released in five colour options including White, Silver, Blue, and Yellow. The company has also introduced a cover for the smartphone, which acts as a stand as well.

Coming to the pricing, Xiaomi MiPhone 3 will cost CNY1999 ($327) for 16GB version and CNY2499 ($408) for the 32GB version.  The first batch of the smartphone will go on sale in October in China, followed by Hong Kong and Taiwan.
