Aircel branded handsets coming next month

The smartphones will be based on Android operating system and will come in different price brackets.

In a move to capture greater chunk of data market, Aircel will be launching a range of smartphones next month, bundled with attractive data offer, under its own brand.

Sunil Kuttam, vice president, data and devices, Aircel, said that, "In November we will be launching Aircel branded smartphones in India."

He added, "The smartphones will be based on Android operating system and will come in different price brackets."

Aircel has recently announced its partnership with Micromax under which it is offering local calling at 1 paisa per 2 second and STD calling at 1 paisa per second for 3 months, 2 GB data (2G/3G) per month for 3 months, Rs 10,000 worth WAP content free over 3 months and Popcorn TV (internet TV) application free for 3 months for 3G enabled Micromax handsets.

Also for 2G Micromax handsets, it is offering local calling at 1 paisa per 2 sec and STD calling at 1 paisa per second for 3 months, 1 GB Data (2G) per month for 3 months and Rs 10,000 worth WAP content free over 3 months. For dongles, Aircel offers 500 MB per month free for 3 months.
