LG announces G Flex with 6-inch curved HD display

After a slew of leaks, LG has made its first curved-screen smartphone G Flex official earlier today in South Korea. As per a press release issued by the company, the smartphone will be available beginning next month in the country on all three major telecom operators.

LG G Flex features a 6-inch curved plastic OLED display with 1280x720p resolution, 2.26GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 13MP rear camera, and 2.1MP front camera. The phone also comes with 32GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, Android 4.2.2, NFC and LTE support.

The company has included various software tweaks like KnockOn, which are found in other LG smartphones like G2. Apart from them, LG has also added something called swing lock screen, which moves the wallpaper in response to tilting motion and produces different unlocking effects when the user touches different areas of the screen.

LG has noted that the back cover of the G Flex is made of a special material and comes with a self-healing technology, which helps in getting rid of scratches on the phone within minutes. There is no word on how exactly this works.

The South Korean manufacturer has not revealed any international release plans right now but we hope to hear more in the coming days.
