Xiaomi sells 100,000 units of MiPhone 3 in 86 seconds

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has announced that it has sold 100,000 units of its flagship smartphone MiPhone 3 within 86 seconds of putting it on sale. The phone became available on the company website at 12 noon (local time) today.

Xiaomi Mi-3 was announced last month and retails for CNY1999 ($327, 16GGB) and CNY2499 ($410, 64GB).

The company’s first Smart TV also turned out to be quite popular and consumers grabbed 3000 units of the TV within 118 seconds.

Xiaomi’s smartphones are traditionally sold in batches and they have always been quite popular thanks to the budget pricing and great specifications. Back in August, 100,000 units of its Hongami (Red Rice) budget Android smartphone were sold in 90 seconds flat.

To remind you, Xiaomi Mi-3 smartphone features a 5-inch full HD IPS display with OGS and is powered by NVIDIA’s Tegra 4 quad-core processor (China Mobile variant) or 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 (China Unicom version). MiPhone 3 also comes with 13MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, NFC and 2GB of RAM. In addition, the phone includes 3050mAh battery, Android 4.2.1 and MIUI v5. Mi3 weighs 145g and is just 8.1mm thick.
