Google has released the Nexus 5 smartphone in the Indian market today. Available now via Google Play, the smartphone has been priced at INR 28,999 for the 16GB version and INR 32,999 for the 32GB version. Google is selling both White and Black colour versions in the country.
Originally introduced on October 31, Nexus 5 is the third Nexus smartphone to be ever released in the country and the first one to reach Indian shores within a fortnight of US release.
LG-built Nexus 5 features a 4.95-inch full HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass, 2.26GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM and 8MP rear camera with optical image stabilisation. The phone also comes with 1.3MP front camera, 2300 mAh battery and the usual connectivity options.
Nexus 5 is the first Android device to run on Android 4.4, the latest Android version, which brings host of improvements and new features to Android. Some of the salient software features of Nexus 5 include the new Google launcher, update Hangouts app with SMS integration, ‘Ok Google’ support, built-in cloud print, and a revamped phone app.
The initial reviews of the phone have been positive barring some concerns about the camera quality of the device. At this price-point, it is the best Android smartphone that you can get in the Indian market right now. All other Android phones with similar specifications are priced around INR 40,000 mark.
