iPhone users can finally use Whatsapp on the Web

Finally iOS users can use Whatsapp on the Web now, well that’s something that Android users have been enjoying since January. Whatsapp has finally rolled out the coveted feature to iOS users. Sigh.

For all those who are wondering why a “web interface” requires connecting to your smartphone to send and receive text. The reason behind it is that all the web messages are not stored at any centralized location, they are just saved on your phone, and hence the web interface would require connecting with the Whatsapp app on your smartphone in order to retrieve them.

Until now iOS users were deprived of the Web Whatsapp feature, but today Whatsapp made the feature available for them too. As one can see in the image above, iPhone support has been included to Whatsapp Web. Let us tell you how to go about it, firstly, you got to update your Whatsapp and then you will find the “Whatsapp Web” option in the settings menu (in case there is no update available then also check the setting option). If you find the new option there, then head over to web.whatsapp.com on your computer and follow the instructions given there for pairing your device (scanning the QR code).

The feature is still under its rollout phase, so if you don’t see it on your device then wait for a while, it will eventually be rolled out to your phone. The good news is that it is on its way!

Android 6.0 Marshmallow is official! Final developer preview available for Nexus 5, 6, 9 and Android Player

Earlier today, Google officially announced the name and a version number for the next version of Android operating system. Android M, which was previewed during Google I/O 2015, is now officially called Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Google’s new mascot for Android 6.0 Marshmallow was unveiled near the Android HQ building in California.

The final developer preview of Android 6.0 Marshmallow is now available for three Nexus devices – LG Nexus 5, Motorola Nexus 6, and HTC Nexus 9 – and for the ASUS Android Player. This will be the last preview build before the RTM version is provided to OEMs and brands.

Android Marshmallow follows the same Material brings for the UI with very little changes upfront. However, it brings improved performance, thanks to better RAM management, improving standby as well as battery endurance using Doze feature. It also brings features like native support for fingerprint sensors and USB Type-C connectors, an app permission manager, and an ability to reverse charge other devices.

With Android 6.0, users can format external memory cards as internal storage partition, so all the apps can take advantage of the increased storage size of the device. Low-end devices like Android One smartphones that have limited internal storage space can take full advantage of this feature.

Developers can upload their Android 6.0 compatible apps to the Google Play Store as the official SDK is live as well. The final version of Android 6.0 Marshmallow should be available for Nexus devices this fall, which could be anytime in the next three months. Google might launch two new Nexus devices later this year – LG Nexus 5 (2015) and Huawei Nexus 6 – that come preinstalled with Android 6.0.

Google Set to Add Operating System Safety Warnings in Android M

Google has added a new page to its Nexus Security support listing a new feature called 'Warning about operating system safety.' The feature checks the Android device while booting to make sure that the OS is safe to use. There is no word whether the verified boot system is coming to the upcoming Android M update; though considering that the company is busy developing the new OS, we can expect the feature to be included when the OS releases later this year.

The support page describes the new feature as, "When you turn on an Android device, the operating system is checked to make sure that it's safe to use. This means that the code running on your device comes from a trusted source and hasn't been changed or corrupted."

According to Google, the system will show three types of warning messages to the user. The first warning message will popup showing the Yellow exclamation and will say, "Your device has loaded a different operating system." The message will inform the user that the device is currently running a different operating system than the one that came preloaded on the device.

The second popup message will appear with Orange exclamation and will show the following message, "Your device software can't be checked for corruption. Please lock the bootloader." The message notifies the user that the device is in an "unlocked" state and the operating system can't be checked to make sure that it's safe to use. Users can proceed to lock their bootloader if they want this message to go away.

The third warning message will appear with Red exclamation and will come with a message saying, "Your device is corrupt. It can't be trusted and may not work properly." The message notifies the user that the operating system on the device has been changed or corrupted and is not safe to use.
